Test & measurement services

LightLab offers a diverse range of testing services for lighting sources. Our core photometric testing service for commercial luminaires is to the IES LM-79 standard for Solid-State Lighting Products (SSL).  Photometric and colorimetric spatial distribution data is acquired using a rotating mirror goniophotometer / goniospectroradiometer. We use a 2 m integrating sphere for additional measurements.

Commercial luminaires
  • Photometric Testing of Interior luminaires*, Floodlights* and Street lanterns*
  • Testing of SSL (LED) luminaires to IES LM-79
  • Electrical testing of luminaires for Light Circuit Power (LCP) and efficacy
  • Test results ready for submission to VEU & ESS energy efficiency commissions
  • ISTM (In-Situ Temperature Measurements) & IEC60598 Clause 12 temperature testing
  • EMC testing to CISPR 15
  • R&D Research and testing

Emergency luminaires
  • Emergency luminaire testing to AS2293
    • Thermal / Endurance (Appendix D)
    • Photometric classification (Appendix C)
    • Pictogram (Section 3)

Signalling devices
  • Automotive lamps to Australian Design Rules (ADR / ECE)
  • Traffic signal lanterns to AS2144
  • Aviation & marine signalling devices

All
  • Determination of relative spectral distribution between 250 nm and 1100 nm
  • Determination of colour metrics:
    • CIE (x,y)* (u,v) (u',v') coordinates
    • CCT* (correlated colour temperature) and Duv
    • CRI* (colour rendering index)
    • Melanopic ratio* to (Well building standard) and (DIN 5031)
    • COI* (Cyanosis observation index) to AS/NZS1680.2.5
    • Scotopic ratio, Dominant wavelength, TM30 and other industry specific metrics
    • Life testing of luminaires

Materials
  • Luminous Reflectance - measurement of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI's) and other surface materials to AS/NZS1428.4. F3
  • Luminance Contrast - contrast measurement of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI's) to adjacent surface materials under all weather and lighting conditions to AS/NZS1428.4. F5
